GTA 6 Vice City Locations: Every Confirmed Area in Leonida

GTA 6 Vice City Locations: Every Confirmed Area in Leonida

When that first GTA 6 trailer dropped in December 2023, most of us were not watching it for the story. We were scanning every frame trying to figure out how big this map actually is. Pausing on street signs. Comparing buildings to Google Maps of Miami. Arguing at midnight about whether that bridge goes to the Keys or somewhere else.

Between two trailers, a significant map leak, and months of community research, here is every confirmed location, what it is based on, and what you will actually do there. So, let’s start with every confirmed GTA 6 vice city locations.

Note: Locations confirmed through official Rockstar trailers are labelled confirmed. Anything from leaks or community research is flagged clearly.

Vice City

Vice City is back for the first time since 2002, and this is not the neon-soaked 1980s version you remember. GTA 6 is set in the present day. Same Florida heat, same criminal energy, but now built for PS5 with a level of detail and NPC density that would have melted a PS3 instantly.

Vice Beach and Ocean Beach

These are the postcard image of GTA 6. White sand, pastel Art Deco hotels, beaches packed with NPCs in a way Los Santos never managed. Ocean Beach is Rockstar’s take on South Beach, and at night with the neon reflecting off the water, it looks genuinely unlike anything in the series so far.

Downtown Vice City

This is where Rockstar’s obsession with Miami’s real architecture shows. Eight buildings have been matched to real landmarks through community research comparing trailer footage to real Miami locations:

In-game Building (GTA 6)Real-world Inspiration
Vice City Arts CenterAdrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts

If you have visited Miami before, walking through Downtown Vice City is going to feel disorienting. You will recognise buildings you have stood in front of in real life, except with slightly wrong names and armed criminals outside.

Port Vice City

It is based on PortMiami and confirmed in the first trailer. A cruise ship is visible docked at the port, which matters because a dockable cruise ship has never appeared in a GTA game before. Missions here are almost certainly built around smuggling and cargo theft.

Port Vice City

Tequesta

It is based on Brickell, Miami’s financial district. White-collar crime on the upper floors, street crime at ground level. Stockyard is Rockstar’s version of Wynwood, built around car meets and street art.

Little Cuba, based on Little Havana, rounds out the neighborhood is officially described by Rockstar itself, home to Cuban-American culture, local panaderías, and the bootleg Tisha-Wocka flea market. It is one of the more culturally specific corners of Vice City.

Tequesta

If you loved Los Santos Tuners in GTA Online, this neighbourhood was made for you. La Perle, based on Little Haiti, is the most culturally layered area in Vice City, with confirmed gang activity and landmarks including the Haitian-American Cultural Center and La Perle Caribbean Market.

State of Leonida

Vice City is the centrepiece, but the state of Leonida around it is where the map earns its reputation as the biggest open world Rockstar has ever built. Every region feels genuinely different.

Leonida Keys

Based on the Florida Keys, is officially described on Rockstar’s GTA 6 website as the “Gateway to Paradise. Turquoise water, coral reefs, massive bridges, and a fully confirmed underwater system with oxygen management, pressure mechanics, shipwrecks, and sharks that actually behave like predators. Both Jason and Lucia, the game’s two protagonists, are confirmed to live here at the start of the game, based on their starting apartment shown in Trailer 2.

Grassrivers

It is Rockstar’s Everglades, and nobody was expecting it to be this atmospheric. Stilt houses barely above the waterline, endless mangroves, alligators just below the surface.

Alligator hunting is confirmed. Leaked materials also hint at “anomalous finds” deeper in the swamp, which is either Rockstar setting up environmental mysteries or something genuinely strange. If you wandered into Bayou Nwa in RDR2 at night and loved the unease of it, Grassrivers is going to feel familiar.

Port Gellhorn

It is based on Panama City Beach, is the forgotten coast. It was once a tourist destination. Now it has cheap motels, shuttered amusement parks, and a local economy quietly rebuilt around drug trafficking. Dirt bike culture is confirmed here, and it is expected to host some of the grimmer storylines.

The name is almost certainly a nod to Martha Gellhorn, American war journalist and third wife of Ernest Hemingway, which is exactly the kind of dry reference Rockstar buries in a map name.

Port Gellhorn

Ambrosia

It is based on Clewiston, Florida, is the industrial heartland of Leonida. Biker gangs control it and the trailers make clear they are not welcoming to strangers. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery is the main landmark. Lake Leonida, based on Lake Okeechobee, sits within the region.

Ambrosia

Mount Kalaga

Mount Kalaga on the northern border is the only elevated terrain on the map, based on the north Florida and southwest Georgia border region. Confirmed activities include hunting, freshwater fishing, kayaking, and off-road riding.

Leaked materials also mention an abandoned bunker in the forest and isolated communities of reclusive radicals and village mystics who do not welcome visitors, details that have circulated through GTA leak communities on Reddit and GTAForums but remain unverified by Rockstar. Rockstar has not officially confirmed these details.

State of Gloriana

Gloriana is the least confirmed area but appears on at least one vehicle licence plate in trailer footage. Based on Georgia, it has reddish eroded clay terrain linked by community researchers to Providence Canyon State Park.

Whether it is accessible from launch or arrives later as an expansion is unknown, but its visual contrast to the flat wetlands of Leonida suggests Rockstar built it with clear intent.

FAQ

How big is the GTA 6 map compared to GTA 5?

Significantly larger. Community estimates based on leaked map data suggest Vice City alone is two to three times the size of Los Santos. With the full state of Leonida and Gloriana added, the total playable area is expected to be the largest in GTA history.

Will all GTA 6 locations be available from the start?

Rockstar has not confirmed how the map unlocks. GTA 5 gated areas behind story progress, and GTA 6 will likely follow a similar structure. Nothing official has been announced.

What real Florida places inspired GTA 6?

Vice City is based on Miami. Leonida Keys on the Florida Keys. Grassrivers on the Everglades. Port Gellhorn on Panama City Beach. Ambrosia on Clewiston. Mount Kalaga on the north Florida border. Gloriana on Georgia.
