Both editions include the complete GTA 6 story with Jason and Lucia across Leonida, so the Standard Edition vs Ultimate Edition decision really comes down to one thing: whether the exclusive content in the Ultimate Edition justifies the extra $20 for how you personally play Rockstar games. For some players it does. For others it is $20 spent on things they will open once and forget.

Is the GTA 6 Standard Edition the Full Game?

Yes. The GTA 6 Standard Edition is the complete game. Not a lite version, not a cut-down experience. You get the full story mode with both Jason and Lucia as playable protagonists, every main mission Rockstar built for the campaign, and full GTA VI Online access from day one. Nothing in the main story is locked behind the Ultimate Edition. Both editions play the exact same campaign from start to finish.

At $79.99, Standard Edition is the version most players will buy and the version most players need.

Standard is available as a digital download or a physical retail box. One thing worth knowing before you decide where to buy: the physical box contains a download code, not a disc. What Pre-Order Bonuses Come With The Standard Edition?

Pre-ordering either edition before launch automatically adds the Vintage Vice City Pack to your account at no extra cost. The pack includes:

• Classic two-tone 1955 Vapid Stanier sedan with a matching garage
• Ocean Beach-inspired cosmetic collection
• Retro hairstyles and exclusive outfits for both Jason and Lucia
• Iconic weapon pattern inspired by classic Vice City aesthetics

Both editions also get one free month of GTA+. The current GTA Online version of GTA+ includes a monthly GTA $500,000 deposit, bonus Shark Card currency, free and discounted Online vehicles, and access to the rotating Rockstar Games Library. What Does the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Include?

The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 and includes everything in the Standard Edition plus exclusive vehicles, weapons, businesses, cosmetics, and two gameplay activities that are not available anywhere in the Standard Edition.

What Rockstar has done differently here compared to most premium editions is how the content unlocks. Rather than dropping everything into your account at once, the exclusive items become available gradually as Jason and Lucia progress through the story. It feels like it belongs in the game rather than being stuck on top of it.

Exclusive Vehicles

The 1995 Grotti Cheetah is the headline vehicle. Retro-futuristic styling, mid-1990s performance design, minimalist livery. Rockstar built it specifically for the later chapters of the story when you are deep into Leonida. The Cheetah is one of the most iconic names in GTA vehicle history and this version is exclusive to Ultimate Edition owners.

Jason’s Safehouse Vehicles adds two rides stored at Jason’s place from early in the game: a Dinka Enduro motorcycle in army fatigue styling and a Crest Kayak. GTA VI has far more accessible water than GTA V ever did, so having a kayak from the start is more useful than it sounds on paper.

The Shitzu Squalo is a watercraft docked at Washington Beach finished in a pink-and-blue gradient. It comes with a weapons crate on board and is built for open-ocean use. For players who spend time on the water this is a functional vehicle, not just a cosmetic reward.

The ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy is built for off-road terrain around Mount Kalaga’s backwoods. It also unlocks access to Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, which includes a weapon locker and a fencing location for stolen goods. That detail matters for anyone planning to run criminal enterprise side content.

Exclusive Weapons

The Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers are matched weapons sourced from the Vercetti Estate. Jason and Lucia each get their own version with palm-tree-engraved grips, premium detailing, a high-performance scope, and Vercetti Estate styling. These are character weapons built specifically for these two people, not generic DLC weapon skins.

Both protagonists also get personalized engraved sidearms: Jason receives a custom Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia gets a Klose K17. Exclusive variants not available anywhere in the Standard Edition.

Exclusive Businesses and Shops

Rideout Customs is a full vehicle modification shop with premium interiors, unique wheels, and donk styling options. Standard Edition players cannot enter this location at all.

One-Eyed Willie’s near Lake Leonida handles off-road vehicle upgrades and hand-painted automotive artwork. Ultimate Edition exclusive.

Sara’s Unisex Salon provides character customization for both protagonists: facial hair options for Jason and makeup and nail customization for Lucia. Not available in Standard.

Stock 305 in Stockyard is a streetwear store with exclusive clothing for Jason and Lucia that cannot be purchased anywhere else in the game.

Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor in Stockyard offers over 50 exclusive tattoo designs for both characters, all created by the artist collective FAILE. These are not generic tattoos. They were designed specifically for Jason and Lucia and exist nowhere else in the game.

On top of those five businesses, Ultimate Edition also includes the Goodtime Gear Collection, a capsule wardrobe based on Macca the Gator, the fictional TV personality from Leonida’s in-game show Goodtime State. This is a cosmetic clothing set rather than a physical shop, but it rounds out the exclusive apparel available to Ultimate owners.

Exclusive Activities

PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store sends you into the compound of one of Southside Vice City’s most active street gangs. Pull it off successfully and you walk out with exclusive items and contraband that cannot be obtained through any other method in the game. This is a full gameplay activity with real rewards, not a passive unlock.

Classic Car Collection is the one that personally made me interested in the Ultimate Edition when Rockstar first revealed these details. Instead of handing you vehicles directly, Rockstar has scattered abandoned project cars and work-in-progress builds across Leonida. You track them down, restore them, and deliver them to an eccentric collector named Wyman.

Anyone who spent hours hunting hidden packages in Vice City or chasing every Strangers and Freaks mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 will immediately recognize what Rockstar is building here. Exploration, restoration, and long-term collecting rolled into a side activity that can run for many hours. For the right type of player this single addition justifies the price gap on its own.

GTA 6 Standard Edition vs Ultimate Edition: Which One Should You Buy?

Stop thinking about which edition sounds better and think about how you actually played GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Not how you planned to play them. How you actually played them.

One thing worth knowing before you stress over this decision too much: Standard Edition buyers can upgrade to Ultimate later by paying the price difference. This is not a permanent fork in the road.

If you are on the fence, there is a real case for starting with Standard, playing the game, and deciding whether the Ultimate content is worth it once you actually know how much time you are putting into Leonida.

Buy the Standard Edition if:

• You play Rockstar games for the story and move on once it ends
• You rarely return to an open world after the credits roll
• Vehicle customization and character cosmetics do not hold your attention
• You are buying this as a gift for someone else
• $20 matters to your budget right now

Buy the Ultimate Edition if:

• You regularly put 150 or more hours into Rockstar open worlds
• You spent real time modifying vehicles and doing side content in GTA V
• You plan to play GTA VI Online seriously long-term
• You will actually use the mod shops and businesses rather than unlock them and forget they exist
• Tracking down and restoring abandoned cars for Wyman already sounds like something you would enjoy

The story is identical across both editions. The core mechanics are identical. What changes is how much of Leonida is available for you to interact with beyond the main campaign.

One thing I want to flag clearly: based on how Rockstar has framed all the Ultimate Edition content, everything appears to add to the game rather than lock any part of the main story away.

All exclusives have been described as additions, not story gates. Rockstar has not published a direct statement confirming this explicitly, so treat this as my reading of the available information rather than a guaranteed fact. If that changes before launch this page will be updated immediately.

If you are still unsure which edition to pick, go Standard. You will not play a lesser game. The story Rockstar built does not care which version you bought.

Is the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Worth the Extra $20?

For most casual players the answer is no. The Standard Edition is a complete, full-price game and that is exactly what you get. If your plan is to finish the story, spend a few weeks in Online, and move on, the extra $20 buys you content you will barely touch.

For players who put serious time into Rockstar open worlds the answer flips. The six exclusive businesses and shops are the biggest factor for long-term Online play.

The Classic Car Collection adds a genuine side activity that can run for dozens of hours. The weapons and vehicles are not cosmetic reskins, they are proper character items built specifically for Jason and Lucia.

Personally the Classic Car Collection and Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor are what tipped me toward the Ultimate Edition.

Not because they look impressive on a feature list but because I know from how I played GTA V that I will spend real time on both of them. If you can say that honestly about any of the exclusive content listed in this article, the Ultimate Edition is worth it for you.
