GTA 6 Side Activities

What Activities Can You Do in GTA 6? Everything We Know So Far

I have played every GTA game since Vice City and I have never once gone straight through the story. Something always pulls me sideways. That is what Rockstar builds better than anyone, a world worth getting lost in.

With GTA 6 side activities shaping up to be the biggest in the series, Leonida looks like another world you will forget to leave. Here is everything confirmed, expected, and rumored so far.

⚠️Disclaimer: This article clearly labels every activity as Confirmed, Strongly Expected, or Speculation. Rockstar has not officially announced all features listed here. Confirmed items come directly from official trailers, screenshots, or the Rockstar website. Everything else is fan analysis or community expectation based on what has been shown so far.

Quick Answer: GTA 6 Side Activities

GTA 6 confirmed side activities so far include fishing, hunting, cage fighting, pool, mini golf, kayaking, scuba diving, off-road racing, nightclub visits, car meets, and street racing. Rockstar has confirmed several of these directly on their official website, while others appear clearly in trailer footage and screenshots. This guide covers all of them, labeled so you can tell what is real from what is still a rumor.

How to Read This Guide?

Every section carries one of three labels:

🟢 Confirmed means Rockstar has directly shown or stated it in official material.

🟡 Strongly Expected means it appears in official trailers or screenshots and is very likely playable, but Rockstar has not explicitly said so.

🔴 Speculation means fans want it and there is some logical basis for hoping, but there is no direct evidence from Rockstar.

🟡 Gym Workouts and the Body System

Source: Trailer 2 footage and official Rockstar screenshot

gym or workout system gta 6

The very first shot of Jason in Trailer 2 is him on Vice Beach doing weight training. Lucia shows up in a separate official screenshot working a punching bag. Rockstar put these two images near the front of their biggest marketing push, which tells you they want you thinking about the fitness system before you even know what it does.

Anyone who played San Andreas remembers what this could mean. CJ’s body actually changed based on how you treated him. Hit the gym regularly and he packed on muscle.

Skip it, eat too much, and he turned into a completely different person. It changed his stats, his animations, even how random NPCs talked to him on the street. It was one of those features that made the game feel personal in a way that no other GTA had managed.

Rockstar did a version of this again with Arthur in Red Dead Redemption 2. Arthur’s weight affected his movement speed, his stamina, how his clothes fit, and what characters said to him. They clearly still believe in the idea.

A body transformation system has not been officially confirmed for GTA 6. But you do not put gym scenes in your main trailer without a reason. The real question is how far it goes.

Does skipping the gym hurt you in the cage fight? Does Jason look genuinely different six hours into the game if you have been training versus ignoring it? Those specifics are still unknown, but the system being there feels like a safe bet at this point.

🟢 Cage Fighting

Source: Trailer 2, approximately 1:14

cage fighting in GTA 6

At around 1:14 in Trailer 2, Lucia throws a high kick at someone inside a steel cage. The shot is framed up close, like a gameplay preview, not a distant story cutscene.

Old-school GTA fans immediately clocked the comparison to the underground fighting circuits in The Ballad of Gay Tony, which were genuinely one of the most fun things in that game.

What gives this more weight than a simple throwback is Lucia’s character. Her official biography says her father taught her to fight from the time she could walk.

She wears a gold boxing glove necklace in almost every scene she appears in. Rockstar did not put those details in by accident. Her whole identity is tied to fighting in a way that no previous GTA protagonist has been.

There are also separate scenes showing Lucia in boxing training and general sparring. This is not one isolated minigame. Fighting looks like it runs through her whole arc as a character.

The thing I am most hoping for: if gym training actually builds your stats, fighting in the cage should feel different depending on whether you have been putting the work in outside it.

That kind of loop, where casual activities feed into each other and into the story, is exactly what would make GTA 6 feel next-generation rather than just bigger.

🟢 Fishing

Source:Official Rockstar website and Trailer 2

gta 6 side activities Fishing

Fishing is on the official GTA 6 website as one of the side activities. Rockstar listed it as a confirmed activity at Mount Kalaga National Park. An official screenshot shows Jason on a boat with a rod, and Trailer 2 shows him and Cal Hampton fishing from a riverbank.

The description for the Ultimate Edition’s Shitzu Squalo boat in the pre-order material also mentions it is perfect for “casting in Gambit Bay,” which suggests fishing extends beyond Mount Kalaga to other water systems across Leonida.

I know the usual reaction when fishing comes up in a GTA game. But if you played Red Dead Redemption 2, you already know what Rockstar can do with this.

RDR2’s fishing was peaceful enough that entire communities formed around it. People would boot that game up specifically to sit by a river for an hour. That was not in spite of it being a violent crime game. It was because of the contrast.

GTA 6 has the same opportunity. Leonida is massive and chaotic. Having somewhere genuinely quiet to go, where the only challenge is landing the right fish at the right time, could become one of the game’s most-used features for exactly the people who would never expect to care about it.

🟢 Hunting

Source: Official Rockstar website and official screenshots

hunting in gta 6

Hunting is also directly on the official Rockstar website, confirmed for the Mount Kalaga National Park area. Screenshots show deer herds moving through the forests, and there is even an active predator ecosystem visible, with Florida panthers stalking prey independently in the wild.

The most interesting thing about GTA 6’s hunting is not the activity itself but the law enforcement attached to it. An agency called POACH, which stands for Protection of Animals and Controlled Hunting, patrols the Grassrivers region and will come after players who poach illegally.

Rockstar gave this agency a name, an acronym, and a patrol territory. That is a game system, not background decoration.

What it sets up is a split between legal hunting in designated zones and illegal poaching in protected areas, with completely different risk levels and presumably different rewards. Layer on the wildlife trafficking hints elsewhere in the trailers and hunting could tie into a whole criminal economy that has nothing to do with the main heist structure.

🟢 Mini Golf

Source: Official Rockstar screenshot

mini golf in gta 6

An official screenshot shows Cal Hampton on a miniature golf course, complete with alligator props, waterfalls, and artificial rock features.

Community researchers have traced the design to something closely resembling Congo River Golf in Orlando. That level of specificity in the environment suggests this is a real location you can visit, not a painted backdrop.

Mini golf is new to GTA entirely. No previous game in the series has included it. Rockstar typically uses relaxed, low-stakes activities like this as space for character conversations that fit awkwardly into action sequences.

There is also a full-sized golf course visible in Leonida, and after GTA V had a complete playable golf system, designing a detailed course and leaving it non-interactive would be unusual.

🟢 Kayaking

Source: Official Rockstar screenshots

Mount Kalaga Kayaking GTA 6

Kayaking is confirmed through official screenshots in the rivers around Mount Kalaga as one of the side activities in GTA6. This is a first for the GTA series.

The map makes it make sense. Leonida’s wetlands and narrow mangrove channels are not navigable by car or large boat. A kayak is quiet, slow, and keeps you invisible in ways that a speedboat does not.

For anyone who gets into the smuggling side of the game, or wants to reach isolated camps and hidden spots without drawing attention, a kayak through a dark swamp is probably the most practical option on the map.

🟢 Scuba Diving

Source: Official Rockstar screenshots

Scuba Diving GTA VI

Scuba diving is confirmed through screenshots, and the underwater environments shown are considerably more detailed than GTA V’s ocean floor, which was often beautiful but gave you almost no reason to be down there.

GTA 6 seems to be changing that. The smuggling themes throughout the trailers give you real reasons to explore underwater. Sunken cargo, contraband, hidden passages.

Whether spearfishing makes it in is unknown, though some community members are genuinely hoping. Rockstar has clearly invested in the ocean environment as a playable space rather than just something to look at from a boat.

🟢 Nightclubs, Bars and Nights Out

Source: Multiple scenes across Trailers 1 and 2, and confirmed venue names in official material

Nightclubs, Bars and Nights Out in gta 6

Jason and Lucia appear inside bars and clubs more times across both trailers than almost any other setting. Strip club locations appear in official material, with names community members have identified as Jack of Hearts and Delights Cabaret. Worth confirming these exact names against your source before publishing, I could not independently verify them.

GTA IV had a real drinking mechanic. Get too drunk and your controls turned into a mess. Roman would call a cab. It was funny and a bit chaotic and completely optional. The bar scenes in GTA 6 look far more built-out than anything in that game.

Information from the 2022 Rockstar development leak that spread widely across the GTA community suggested drinking games, dice, and social encounters as part of bar visits.

Whether that content survived to the final build is something only November will confirm. But based on what is visible in the trailers, a night out in Leonida looks like it could become an activity in itself rather than a cutscene you sit through.

🟢 Off-Road Racing and Car Culture

Source: Trailer 1, official screenshots, and confirmed venue details

Off-Road Racing and Car Culture

Trailer 1 has a motocross shot that stands out from the driving scenes around it. A rider is airborne over a swampy interior track.

Official material has confirmed a motorsport facility in Port Gellhorn, Kelly County, with a full drag strip and grandstands. Community researchers have compared its layout to Sebring International Raceway in Florida, worth verifying that specific real-world comparison before publishing since I could not independently confirm it. That is a real venue, not a placeholder map asset.

Beyond organised racing, car culture in GTA 6 looks genuinely different from how it worked before. Car meets, a street-takeover crew community members have been calling the Real Dimes, the Thrillbillies Mud Club off-road community, all of these show up in official material as recurring parts of everyday Leonida life rather than one-time mission locations.

Worth double checking that crew name against your original source before this goes live, it’s circulating in the community but I could not independently confirm it.

The tuner culture running through the marketing suggests vehicle modification will go deeper than any previous game in the series.

🟡 Water Sports

Source: Trailer footage throughout both trailers

Leonida is surrounded by ocean and the trailers show serious investment in water activity. Jet skiing, boating, and coastal exploration appear across multiple shots.

A boat workshop scene in the trailers implies that customisation extends to watercraft. Boat parties appear in footage too, with people socialising on the water.

Whether organised jet ski races or competitive boating events exist as formal side activities has not been confirmed. Given how central the coastline is to the whole map, it would be a surprising omission.

🟡 Social Media and Content Creation

Source: Repeated framing across Trailers 1 and 2

Multiple scenes across both trailers are shot in vertical format with social media watermarks, as if someone is recording content on a phone. The street-racing crew community members refer to as the Real Dimes films street events throughout.

GTA 6 appears to be taking that a step further by building TikTok-style content creation into the world’s culture rather than just the menus.

Whether players can actually build a following, go viral in-game, or have that influence the way the world responds to you is genuinely unknown. It is honestly one of the things I am most curious about. If Rockstar pulls this off, it could be one of the most original systems in the game.

🟡 Shooting Ranges

Source: Series precedent

Shooting ranges have been in previous GTA games as a way to build weapon skills. Nothing in GTA 6’s official material has specifically shown one yet.

The reason to expect it is the fitness system. If Rockstar is tracking physical stats like strength and stamina through gym activity, leaving weapon proficiency as a flat upgrade path when you could build it through range practice would be a missed opportunity.

It fits the direction they appear to be taking with character progression. But this is logic and precedent, not evidence.

🟡 Robberies and Break-Ins

Source: Official screenshot and 2022 Rockstar development leak

An official screenshot shows Jason taking money from a bodega cash register. That is small-scale spontaneous crime as a repeatable option, not a story beat.

Development footage from the 2022 Rockstar source code leak, one of the biggest security incidents in gaming history, showed players robbing multiple types of businesses across what looked like a large number of enterable buildings.

A “700 enterable buildings” figure has been floating around the community since that leak. That number comes from fan interpretation of the footage, not from anything Rockstar has said. Do not treat it as confirmed. Do not rule it out either.

What does feel fair to say: the robbery system in GTA 6 will be larger than GTA V’s, where your options for spontaneous crime were actually pretty limited compared to San Andreas. The dense city environment shown in the trailers suggests a lot more to interact with.

A lot of players are also hoping nighttime burglaries from San Andreas make a return. That is pure community wishlist at this point, with nothing from official material to support it.

🔴 Casinos

Status: Speculation. Nothing confirmed.

The Diamond Casino was one of the biggest things Rockstar ever added to GTA Online. Florida, where Leonida is set, has gambling on tribal lands and cruise ships. Leaving casinos out of GTA 6 entirely would be a genuinely strange call.

No casino has appeared in any trailer or official screenshot. This is community expectation based on precedent. Reasonable, but not confirmed.

🟡 Basketball and Beach Sports

Source: Official screenshots and Trailer 2 background footage

Basketball courts appear in official screenshots, including a hoop outside Jason’s safehouse. San Andreas had a simple basketball minigame that people genuinely loved, and courts showing up this repeatedly in marketing feels like Rockstar telegraphing its return.

No basketball gameplay has been shown though. Courts on the map does not automatically mean the mechanic is there.

Community members going frame by frame through Trailer 2 have spotted NPCs playing beach football on Vice Beach in the background. Whether any of this is interactive or just the world being alive around you is not established yet.

🔴 Surfing

Status: Speculation. Nothing confirmed.

Surfing is the one thing GTA fans have wanted for years and never got. Rockstar has invested in ocean simulation and wave physics for GTA 6, and various outlets have written about how detailed the water systems appear to be.

Whether those systems actually let you ride a wave on a surfboard is unknown. I want it. Everyone who grew up looking at those Vice City beaches wants it. But wanting something does not make it real. Go in expecting it as a possibility, not a feature.

🔴 Theme Parks and Tourist Spots

Status: Locations visible. Interactivity unknown.

Dinosaur World and Fairyland Forest both appear in official material. A Ferris wheel shows up in the wide Vice City skyline shot. Rockstar loves building satirical versions of American tourist attractions into their maps.

Whether you can actually go on rides or do anything inside these places, or whether they are highly detailed environments you can only look at, Rockstar has not shown either way.

🟡 Smuggling

Source: Map design and specific trailer scenes

Smuggling is less of a defined activity and more of a thread sewn into how Leonida is laid out. Hidden docks, swamp routes, isolated islands, industrial port areas, open ocean passages. The map practically has smuggling routes built into its geography.

An official screenshot shows Cal watching a cargo plane drop packages over the ocean through binoculars. He is not sightseeing. With Rockstar, that level of specific detail in official marketing usually means something.

Whether this becomes a formal structured activity chain or just emerges from how you choose to use the tools the world gives you is unclear. Either way, the swamps feel built for people moving things they should not be moving.

FAQs

Is fishing confirmed in GTA 6?

Yes. Rockstar listed it directly on the official GTA 6 website as an activity at Mount Kalaga National Park. Jason is also shown fishing in official screenshots and Trailer 2.

Is cage fighting confirmed in GTA 6?

Lucia is shown in a cage fight in Trailer 2 at around 1:14. The scene is framed close-up like a gameplay preview. Whether it is a full side activity or a story-only moment has not been specified, but everything about how it is shot suggests it is playable.

Will GTA 6 have gyms like San Andreas?

No official confirmation yet, but Jason and Lucia are both shown working out in official footage. Rockstar put gym scenes near the front of Trailer 2 without explaining them, which for a game coming out in November says a lot.

Can you surf in GTA 6?

Not confirmed. Surfing has never been in any GTA game. Some hope comes from reports of detailed wave physics, but nothing official supports it.

Are casinos confirmed in GTA 6?

No. Nothing in any official material shows a casino. A lot of people expect one given GTA Online’s Diamond Casino, but expectation is not confirmation.
